Dear Congress,
We are Americans who merely wish to be left alone. We are not asking the government for anybody else's money, their time, or even their attention. Rather, we want to be free to homeschool our children, pray in our homes, own a gun to protect our lives, invest our hard earned wages and own our property without anyone taking it from us to give it to someone else. We simply wish to control our own destiny.
We are Constitutionalists. We believe in the undeniable fact that the Constitution specifies and limits what the government can do, it does not limit us. If the Constitution is no longer adequate for today's needs, there is an amendment process built in to that Constitution by which it may be altered, use it. Do not ignore or subvert the Constitution merely because it is expedient to accomplish some perceived goal.
We also believe in the supremacy of the Bill of Rights, all ten of them. We believe that these rights are unalienable, they can neither be taken from us nor given away, by anybody. Our rights are not given to us by the government, rather, governments are instituted among men to secure and to protect our rights. We are the 90% of Americans that just want to be free to live our lives as benefits ourselves and our families. We do not wish to interfere with or to control the lives of others. We don't believe that 51% of the people have the franchise or license to take away the rights of the other 49%. We are adamantly opposed to the over-reaching tax-and-spend mentality, and the ever more intrusive government that is so pervasive in Washington DC today.
We intend to remind Congress of their oath to support and defend the Constitution and of the specifically limited nature of the government set up under that constitutional framework. We also feel that is our duty as Americans to inform our congressional candidates of the trust and responsibility that they will be taking on as public servants, an unwavering adherence to the Constitution and to the Bill of Rights in all matters.
Signed,
