Welcome to The Letters Page,
Here you will find worthy reprints of letters to the editor, local, state and federal Representatives, as well as to all our country men and women. Feel free to utilize these tools to formulate your sound off and expectations to those that represent you and I.
To all my dear conservative friends; I felt compelled to put this email together because of the events that are taking place in our country that are very serious. The current administration is aggressively expanding the government day by day; putting forth programs that are removing our freedom to decide what we want for our country and will affect all of us and our children. The only sure way we could STOP THE ERA OF BIG GOVERNMENT AND RUN AWAY SPENDING; is to remove those Representatives from office who only satisfy their political ideology and lobbyist cronies. We need to vote in true conservatives that in earnest care about the people and will bring about the real change we need that will reflect our Constitutional rights. I know everyone is busy with their lives; but we must try to make some time for our voices to be heard locally and nationally. Unfortunately, we can not rest on our laurels for time is of the essence or we will not have a voice. We need to unseat those in congress who are out of touch with the average person. We also need to be aware of the President’s empty slick tele-prompter promises (do as I say not what I do) mentality. His cabinet staff of tax cheats, crooks and Chicago style thugs who use influence peddling tactics to bring about their agenda. Recently, as we all know we had a great victory for the American people with the election of Scott Brown (conservative Republican) in Massachusetts which is one of the most liberal states in the country. Unfortunately, this election was just the beginning of a new era for the American people and a new mindset of “Power to the People” not the government. If you can make some time and effort to attend a “South Walton Tea Party Patriots’ ” meeting this will give you an opportunity to learn about the candidates running for State Representative in the November elections. This will also inform you as to what is really going on in Congress and the White House. You will also be informed as to what type of platform candidates are running on and how they plan to represent us in this voting district. The meetings are held on the 2nd Thursday every month at the Coastal Branch Library at 7:00 P.M. I am attaching a link that will take you to the South Walton Tea Party Patriots web-site. When you open the site click on Walton Tea Party Patriots on the left side. I am also attaching info on a Constitutional class being held on 2/13/10, (see info below)
In Sincere friendship; McCarthy Was Right! February 10, 2010 by —Chip Wood On Feb. 9, 1950, Senator Joseph McCarthy (R.-Wisc.) gave a Lincoln’s Birthday speech in Wheeling, W.V., in which he asserted that scores of communists had infiltrated the U.S. State Department. His charges, far from causing a nationwide fervor of anti-communist hysteria, as his critics have alleged, went mostly unnoticed at the time. Just two weeks earlier, Alger Hiss, then and now the darling of the left, was convicted of two counts of perjury for lying about being a spy for the Soviet Union. He was sentenced to life in prison. We now know for certain, thanks to documents discovered in Moscow after the collapse of communism there, that McCarthy was, if anything, understating the case; and that Hiss was guilty of far more than perjury. He was a conscious and deliberate traitor to his country. For nearly six decades, the left has conducted a relentless smear campaign against the junior senator from Wisconsin, making his name a symbol of irresponsible extremism. For an excellent account of what really did happen, get Blacklisted by History: The Untold Story of Senator Joe McCarthy and His Fight Against America’s Enemies, by M. Stanton Evans.
Truth may not forever be on the scaffold, nor deceit firmly on the throne. But for Joe McCarthy, who should be hailed as a genuine American hero, it certainly seems that way. When the 16th Amendment Became Law —Chip Wood Ninety-four years ago this week the United States Constitution suffered its worst-ever addition when the 16th Amendment, which permits a progressive income tax, was ratified by Congress. In just one sentence, a mere 31 words long, our relationship with those who would rule over us was changed dramatically. A graduated federal income tax became legal for the first time in our country’s history on Feb. 25, 1913, thanks to 16th Amendment. Prior to its ratification the courts had repeatedly ruled that a progressive income tax—that is, the more you earn the greater percentage the government would take—was unconstitutional. Thanks to a virtual conspiracy among the rich and powerful and their lackeys in Congress, Americans were persuaded that a graduated income tax (a key plank in the Communist Manifesto, by the way) would “soak the rich” and shower benefits on the poor. Instead, as many warned at the time, the tax and those who enforce it have done incalculable harm to the spirit of freedom and independence that once typified this country.
